The 3rd International Hockey Youth Camp (July 13-19, 2003)

It was the third year when we had a week full of excitement and new skills for young hockey players. Siauliai - Bubiai was the main target of the week. For this children arrived from the whole Lithuania.

Lithuanian Hockey Federation, European Hockey Federation and Sport Ways were three companies which organized the Third International Hockey Camp for young players. This year we had very skillful and talented Technical Director Martijn van Delft from Sport Ways. Also five Lithuanian coaches and the coach from Finland Kristiina Suninen.

From the very first day of the camp children had a lot of impressions. On the first day after they arrived to Siauliai to the pitch they warmed up their arms, legs and sticks as well. In the evening - Christening - a swear to be loyal to Hockey, to Stick and Ball and of cause the Bump from the ball.

We had training sessions every day, children patiently practised all the tricks, technics and tactics. And the test for all their practises was the match children versus coaches.

But we were not only practising. For the evening programme we organised Fun Relays (spinning head, catch the frog), disco, night march, acting, etc.

The biggest impression children had from the Paintball games. In the morning it was told for the children we are leaving to Siauliai for the traning session, so take all stuff and the sticks. But the truth was we were going to play paintball. When we arrived the fight had started. For the Paintball we thank Alytus city Police Department. They also organised lecture about drugs in the evening and taught some self-defence tricks.

Children really enjoyed the camp this year. Even those who participated in it for the third year said they are happy to be here and of cause girls with the tears in the eyes when it was time to leave.

It is planned to have the camp next year, too. Look for the information and advertisement.
